The Warrior Awakes is a compelling solo work for Tuba that is both a multi-faceted portrait of a complex personality and a concise demonstration of the expressive and technical capabilities of the tuba, challenging the performer to balance lyricism and virtuosity in equal measure.

(Note: Comprehensive parts for Tuba in C, Eb, and Bb are included.)

Three-Way Conversation is a solo work for euphonium that depicts the interaction of three distinct characters: a pompous, overbearing Major-General (heard in wide leaps and martial rhythms at the opening); a browbeaten Private (expressed through sighing melodic lines, as if pleading for mercy); and an emollient Padre (represented by smooth repeated semiquavers, marked parlando – “as if spoken”).

As the piece unfolds, the Private grows bolder and more talkative, the Major-General begins to soften, and the Padre remains his calm, imperturbable self. Yet despite moments of resolution, an underlying uneasiness lingers at the close.

(Note: Comprehensive parts for Euphonium in both Bass Clef and Treble Clef are included.)
