Homage to Dufay is a quartet for two euphoniums and two basses, composed to mark the retirement of Dr David Fallows — the distinguished musicologist and specialist in the music of Guillaume Dufay — from Manchester University. As a tribute, the piece is written as a pastiche of the Franco-Flemish master’s style, with the occasional Modernist twist adding colour and wit.
The final section indulges in some playful musical word-play, being based on the well-known song “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” — or, more fittingly, “Fallows.”
All profits from the sale of this music will be donated equally to the charities chosen by the composer, Robin Stevens during his lifetime. In purchasing this music, you are not only supporting the art he loved, but continuing a legacy of generosity that defined him.
